FLACC — Pain Assessment

Behavioral pain scale for non-verbal patients (2 months to 7 years) assessing face, legs, activity, cry, and consolability.

The FLACC (Face, Legs, Activity, Cry, Consolability) pain scale is the gold-standard behavioral pain assessment tool for nonverbal children aged 2 months to 7 years during painful procedures and post-operatively. This validated instrument uses five observable domains scored 0-2 to generate a total pain score guiding analgesic administration and monitoring of treatment response in vulnerable populations unable to self-report pain. FLACC scores ≥4 typically indicate clinically significant pain warranting intervention.
