Pediatric Sequential Organ Failure Assessment for evaluating organ dysfunction in PICU

The pediatric Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (pSOFA) score identifies children with suspected sepsis at risk of poor outcomes by quantifying degree of organ dysfunction based on altered mentation, hypotension, and abnormal oxygenation. Derived from the adult SOFA score and modified for pediatric patients, this simplified assessment helps clinicians recognize sepsis earlier and initiate appropriate resuscitation. Apply this calculator in any child with suspected infection and clinical instability to identify sepsis and guide escalation of care intensity.
