C-SSRS — Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale

Structured screening tool for suicidal ideation and behavior with hierarchical risk stratification.

The C-SSRS (Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale) is the gold-standard screening and severity assessment tool for suicidal ideation and behavior in pediatric and adolescent populations in clinical and research settings. This evidence-based instrument evaluates both passive and active suicidal ideation, aborted attempts, interrupted attempts, and actual suicide attempts to identify youth at imminent risk. All pediatric clinicians should use structured suicide risk assessment in vulnerable populations including those with mood, behavioral, and substance use disorders.
