Ramsay Sedation Scale

6-level sedation assessment scale for procedural and ICU sedation monitoring.

The Ramsay Sedation Scale provides a simple six-point assessment of depth of sedation in intubated pediatric patients, ranging from alert and awake to unresponsive to stimuli. This bedside scoring tool helps clinicians titrate sedative and analgesic medications to achieve appropriate depth without over- or under-sedation. Use this scale hourly in all sedated PICU patients to assess sedation adequacy, guide medication dose adjustments, and minimize complications from inadequate or excessive sedation.
